HandScan AI ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. We have written this in plain language — if you have questions, email us.

1. What data we collect

2. How we handle your photos

This is the most sensitive data we process, so we want to be explicit:

Your photos are never stored on our servers. They are processed in-session, sent to Anthropic's API for AI analysis, and discarded. We retain no copy.
Anthropic processes your image to generate analysis results. Their data handling is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
If you purchase a Full Report, your images are temporarily held in your browser's session storage during the Stripe checkout flow and deleted immediately after the report is generated.
We do not use your photos to train AI models.
We do not share your photos with any party other than Anthropic for the sole purpose of generating your analysis.

3. Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how people use the Service — page views, session duration, and general usage patterns. This data is anonymised and aggregated. We do not use advertising cookies or sell your browsing data.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

4. Third-party services

Anthropic — processes uploaded images to generate AI analysis. Privacy Policy
Stripe — handles all payment processing. We never see your card details. Privacy Policy
MailerLite — manages our mailing list if you subscribe. Privacy Policy
Vercel — hosts the Service. May log IP addresses as part of standard server logs. Privacy Policy

5. Data retention

Photos: Not retained. Deleted at end of session.
Email addresses: Retained until you unsubscribe. You can remove yourself at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.
Payment records: Retained by Stripe for as long as required by law and their terms.
Analytics data: Retained by Google Analytics per their default retention settings (14 months).

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you

Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
Portability: Request your data in a portable format
Objection: Object to processing of your data

7. California residents (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell your personal information. 8. Children's privacy

HandScan AI is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted data, contact us immediately and we will take steps to remove it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption, secure API key management, and server-side processing to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will be communicated to mailing list subscribers by email.
